Testimonials

Are you up to the challenge to committing yourself to the highest standards of personal living? Are you willing to push your Brothers to their fullest potential? Are you willing to step up to become the founding father of a chapter of one of the nation’s most respected fraternities? We hope you are. Read on to hear what some of our Brothers have to say:

“I helped recolonize the Cal Tau Chapter at Berkeley when I was a freshman.  Joining Pi Lambda Phi was the best decision I made while in college, and it is one from which I am still reaping the benefits more than a decade later.

Forming a Fraternity is an experience in leadership that will help you in countless ways throughout the rest of your life.  It gives you the courage to try something new and untested, the confidence to put yourself out there, the ability to look and ahead and see problems, and the gratification of seeing your hard work come to fruition.  While your classmates will graduate with only small jobs on their resume, you will have the knowledge of how to succeed in growing an organization.

We went from an empty house to the largest on campus, an unknown group to the cover of the school newspaper, and from having people ask "Where's your house again?" to them stopping me on the streets and saying, "Hey!  You're a Pi Lam!  I love your house!"

I still keep in contact with the men that I met during those years.  They're the ones I turn to when I'm pondering a career decision, the ones who helped me through graduate school, the ones who have been there for every stage of my life.  I've been their references for the Bar, for Medical Boards, and for business school applications.  Being a Pi Lam is about making yourself better, about making your community better, and making your country better not just now, but for a lifetime.”

-Chris Rakunas, MBA
Alpha Class (Fall '97) of the California Tau Chapter
Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity

“On top of all the incredible experiences I have had with my brothers, being in this fraternity has also helped me grow and mature in ways I never knew possible.  I feel like I have become far more responsible and much more of a leader in the last semester because of Pi Lambda Phi.  Be it fraternity business or just playing video games, I look forward to any interaction with Pi Lambda Phi.”

- Dave Thewlis, Jrunio

“I came to determine that although I did not need a fraternity, there are men who arrive at college that do.  When I say they need a fraternity, I mean they need a group of men that they can look to for guidance, support, structure, and personal growth.  I was fortunate enough that even as a first-year student I had the ability to find these things either from home or from other resources at school.  However, not all men are as fortunate.  I wanted to be a part of a group that allowed a college male to be a part of something that brought these resources to them in a healthy environment.  Other fraternities in the past and the present across this country have lost sight of this purpose and have lost it in a fog of shallow connections and dangerous activities.  I wanted to inject whatever leadership potential I had into Pi Lambda Phi to ensure that the organization never fell into that disastrous position.  I felt that Pi Lam had a genuine momentum that I hoped to push along with intentions of revolutionizing the face of fraternal life across our college’s campus and beyond.”

– Corey Clay, Recent Graduate

“Accepting my bid to Pi Lambda Phi has indeed been the best decision of my college career, and I doubt this perspective will change.  I have been given the opportunity to gel with a superb group of men, and being around good people all the time is never, ever a bad thing.  My Brothers have been my crutches through my college experience; they bring me up when I am down and they support and challenge me the entire way.  I have grown immeasurably by getting to know each and every one of my Brothers, and I feel that my college experience would have been greatly diminished had I never met, let alone become close to, even half of these guys.”
